What We Do
At Legal Management Resources, our mission is to support and educate law firm leaders—and we’ve been doing so for over 20 years.
Legal Management Resources (LMR) provides support and education to law firm leaders throughout the world. Our work is built upon the 40+ years of experience of our Founder, legal veteran James W. Jones. We are dedicated to providing law firms with actionable intelligence on the state of the legal market and recent industry trends. We also believe that law firm General Counsel should have a community where they can share ideas and explore issues related to risk, ethics, and professional responsibility. Our member firms include AmLaw 100 and 200 firms, Magic Circle firms, and numerous regional and boutique law firms.

The meetings of the General Counsel Roundtable consist of two half-days of programming, with a group reception and dinner. The programming covers recent legal trends and addresses matters related to members’ roles as risk managers of their respective firms. The Large Firm Roundtable meets three times a year, and the Midsize Firm Roundtable meets twice a year. CLE credit is available for each meeting.
-
At the end of each meeting, time is set aside for whatever problems or issues members wish to discuss. Our discussions are quite open and frank, and our members find them of great value.
-
Between meetings, members stay in touch through a members-only listserv. Questions may be posed anonymously and topics vary from recent trends to policies and procedures. The listserv was particularly useful to our members during the recent pandemic.
-
As an added benefit to our members, LMR conducts surveys around various issues including a benchmarking survey every 3 or 4 years on the staffing, functions, and compensation of member firms’ GC offices.
-
LMR organizes opportunities for member firms to join in comments on proposed rules changes in various jurisdictions. Occasionally, participation in amicus briefs on issues important for law firm risk management occurs.
-
LMR anonymously posts open positions for member firms in need of enhancing their Office of the General Counsel as well as lawyers seeking new opportunities.
